The Blue Ridge Music Center features a state-of-the-art amphitheatre on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 213. A Summer Concert Series is featured each Saturday evening June through September. The Blue Ridge Music Center is programmed by The National Council for the Traditional Arts for the preservation and interpretation of regional music. Phase II of the facility currently under construction will include a 17,000 square foot museum which will have a small indoor auditorium exhibits, audio-visual media, and other methods of showing the history of the music.

Visit the Historic Rex Theater in Downtown Galax every Friday evening for a unique Live Radio Show featuring Bluegrass and Oldtime Bands performing on stage. Blue Ridge Backroads Live is presented by a group of area Volunteers and has been taking place at The Rex Theater since 1999. It is broadcasted live on WBRF 98.1FM. Call for more information.

Old Cranks Motorcar Museum houses an average of 50 Antique, Classic and Special Interest automobiles, ranging from a 1906 Schacht Horseless Carriage, a 1917 Detroit Electric Auto, a 1919 Stanley Steam Car, a 1923 Templar Touring Car, a 1934 Ford V-8, a 1954 Oldsmobile, a 28K mile unrestored 1969 Mustang Mach 1 with a 428 Cobra Jet engine to a 1975 Corvette.

There are numerous showcases filled with memorabilia, mostly related to the automobile. The walls are covered with displays related to the fascinating history of Galax and our motoring past.

Hand dipped ice cream is served from the 1950's soda fountain during the warmer months.

Just opened is a 15 space, self-pay, full service RV Park behind the museum, conveniently located to downtown Galax, Felts Park and the New River Trail State Park, which features 58 miles of hiking.

Carroll County hosts two portions of this 57-mile long state park that follows an abandoned railroad right-of-way and parallels the scenic and historic New River for 39 miles. The park offers biking, hiking, camping, canoeing, fishing, and great scenery - not to mention a legacy steeped in history. Birding and Wildlife viewing is superb. Chestnut Creek Falls offers a captivating sight. This park also serves as a link to numerous other outdoor recreational areas, including a town park in Fries, Mt. Rogers National Recreational Area, four Department of Game and Inland Fisheries boat launches and Shot Tower Historical State Park. New River Trail is just minutes from Claytor Lake State Park and Grayson Highlands State Park. This unique park features 57 miles of continuous trail.
