The Blue Ridge Music Center features a state-of-the-art amphitheatre on the Blue Ridge Parkway at Milepost 213. A Summer Concert Series is featured each Saturday evening June through September. The Blue Ridge Music Center is programmed by The National Council for the Traditional Arts for the preservation and interpretation of regional music. Phase II of the facility currently under construction will include a 17,000 square foot museum which will have a small indoor auditorium exhibits, audio-visual media, and other methods of showing the history of the music.

Chestnut Creek School of Arts preserves and promotes the cultural heritage of southwest Virginia by fostering artistic and individual growth through classes in visual and performing arts, heritage and contemporary craft, and traditional music.

Visitors can register for one of our many classes during their visit to the twin counties. Classes range from the fine arts and painting to jewelry and instrument making. Take a “Self-Improvement Vacation" at “The Creek.”

Visit the Historic Rex Theater in Downtown Galax every Friday evening for a unique Live Radio Show featuring Bluegrass and Oldtime Bands performing on stage. Blue Ridge Backroads Live is presented by a group of area Volunteers and has been taking place at The Rex Theater since 1999. It is broadcasted live on WBRF 98.1FM. Call for more information.

The museum includes two restored Appalachian log cabins furnished with period items. Also, extensive collections of Civil War photographs/memorabilia, Indian artifacts from the area, mounted North American game animals.

Old Cranks Motorcar Museum houses an average of 50 Antique, Classic and Special Interest automobiles, ranging from a 1906 Schacht Horseless Carriage, a 1917 Detroit Electric Auto, a 1919 Stanley Steam Car, a 1923 Templar Touring Car, a 1934 Ford V-8, a 1954 Oldsmobile, a 28K mile unrestored 1969 Mustang Mach 1 with a 428 Cobra Jet engine to a 1975 Corvette.

There are numerous showcases filled with memorabilia, mostly related to the automobile. The walls are covered with displays related to the fascinating history of Galax and our motoring past.

Hand dipped ice cream is served from the 1950's soda fountain during the warmer months.

Just opened is a 15 space, self-pay, full service RV Park behind the museum, conveniently located to downtown Galax, Felts Park and the New River Trail State Park, which features 58 miles of hiking.

Billingsway Farm also has horseback camping trips starting from a 3 day / 2 night package. We also offer horseback riding lessons and horse breaking & training. Right on the New River Trail State Park along the second oldest river in the world and one of the few flowing north, Cliffview Trading Post offers everything you need for a relaxing horseback ride on the trail (all equipment furnished).

Deer Creek Golf Park, just off the Blue Ridge Parkway in Grayson County VA, is designed with the family in mind. Surrounded by the natural beauty of the mountains, we feature a driving range with grass tees, astro turf mats and a covered hitting area. Deer Creek's Par 3 Golf Course is one of the most beautifully maintained this side of the Mississippi. Play under the lights until 10pm seven days a week. This 9-hole, 65 acre facility is located at 107 Country Club Lane and is open to the public. Twenty gas-powered golf carts are available for use. Our facility also has a large banquet room that may be rented for that perfect wedding reception, anniversary party, holiday gathering or family get-together. Whatever you need, the Galax Municipal golf course and banquet facilities are ready for you.

Carroll County hosts two portions of this 57-mile long state park that follows an abandoned railroad right-of-way and parallels the scenic and historic New River for 39 miles. The park offers biking, hiking, camping, canoeing, fishing, and great scenery - not to mention a legacy steeped in history. Birding and Wildlife viewing is superb. Chestnut Creek Falls offers a captivating sight. This park also serves as a link to numerous other outdoor recreational areas, including a town park in Fries, Mt. Rogers National Recreational Area, four Department of Game and Inland Fisheries boat launches and Shot Tower Historical State Park. New River Trail is just minutes from Claytor Lake State Park and Grayson Highlands State Park. This unique park features 57 miles of continuous trail.

Set amidst the the beautiful rolling hills of eastern Grayson County is Meadow Creek Dairy, a 170 acre family farm. From their herd of Jersey cattle comes the milk from which they make the delicious cheeses featured in the farm store, Meadow Creek Farm Shop. These cheeses are currently available; Appalachian Jack, Rosemary Jack, Hot Pepper Jack, Meadowshire, Appalachian Mountaineer, Meadow Creek Feta, Tomato and Herb Feta, Peppered Feta. Also offered are some farm shop specialties including farm raised ground beef.

After having a total of 14 booths in different antique malls for years, and spending so much time in the car going from mall to mall, we decided to open our own antique shop in Galax. Our inventory is constantly changing. We have elegant Victorian furniture as well as primitives, vintage jewelry, decorator accents, European linens, collectable glasswear, vintage clothing, a kitchen corner, and more.
